Mid 19th century French Morbier tall case clock with chinoiserie finish.
The Comtoise tall case clock (also known as Morbier clocks) are known for their individual looking cases. This particular Comtoise clock is particularly unique with its red finish and chinoiserie accents. Like so many clocks of this type the enameled dial is enclosed in a hammered brass surround. The 8 day weight powered movement strikes a bell at the hour and will repeat the hour striking 3 minutes later. The clock will also strike once at the half hour.
