Pair of 19th Century French Bronze Candelabra

We found these lovely antique candelabra while on a buying trip in France. Originally from a French cathedral, the impressive pair is 22.2 inches tall and made out of cast bronze highly polished to a rich hue. The style motif features acanthus leaves, holly, pineapples, grapes, and pinecones. Supporting each piece are furry paw feet, which differ from ball and claw feet in that they feature a mammal’s paw instead of a raptor’s claw over a ball. The spike and the bobeche, which serves as a seat for the candle and collects the melted wax, are scaled to hold large candles. They are the perfect accessory for a large dining room table, fireplace mantle or buffet.
