Mid 19th century Dutch Staartklok in oak.

This is a beautiful example of a Dutch Staartklok or “tail clock”.  The “tail” of this clock is of quarter sawn oak and houses the pendulum which can be viewed through the brass framed aperture.  The hood of the clock is also constructed in oak with ebonized columns on either side of the hand painted dial.   The top of the case is surmounted by gilded, hand carved trumpeting angels and Atlas.  One other detail of this clock that should be mentioned is the operational moon dial.  If you are looking to accent a den or family room with some charming old world style then this clock may be a perfect fit.
