Magnificent 18th century Dutch tall case clock.

This Dutch tall case is of burl walnut and adorned with very nice carved details.  The hood of the clock is particularly interesting with four columns, very fine fret work and topped with Atlas holding the world and two trumpeting angels flanking him.  The dial displays an operation moon dial, seconds hand, day of the month and the time.  The arch above the moon dial, the chapter ring, seconds ring, and signature plate are all very finely hand engraved and silvered.  The signature located above the VI on the chapter ring reads: Dirck Wilken Amsterdam.  The movement of this clock is original and is an excellent example of 18th century Dutch horology.  The two weights will require winding once a week to maintain uninterrupted operation.  The clock strikes the hour on a bell at the hour and and on a higher pitched bell strikes the coming hour at the half hour.
