Period Chippendale style English mahogany chest on chest with writing drawer.
This period Chippendale English chest on chest could certainly be described as elegant. The straight lines of this piece exude an air of formality and displays the beauty of the mahogany grain to its full potential. Despite the simple lines of the design, this chest on chest is anything but simple. The molding crowning the top of the piece is very detailed. The “Wall of Troy” style molding in conjunction with the finely hand carved geometric design are magnificent. The carved geometric design is also used along the front corners of both the top and bottom of the chest on chest. The pulls and escutcheons are nicely cast in bronze creating the perfect contrast with the dark mahogany. One of the more notable features of this piece is the writing surface which is concealed behind the fourth from the bottom drawer front. This writing space touts four small drawers and several compartments. The entire piece is supported by four ogee styled bracket feet. This is a magnificent piece that would grace any bedroom or dining space.
