Pair of Napoleon III Period High Back Entry Antique Chairs

Circa 1870, these walnut chairs were intended as decorative pieces to be set in an entry or hall to welcome guests to a home. The leather has been embossed with a pattern set around faux metal work detailing, giving the illusion of the iron being laid on top of the leather. An unusual medallion pattern is featured on the head to head nails that trim the leather on the seat and the back. The turned legs are a twist fluted column, which rest on a decorative base sitting upon bun feet, all indicative of the Napoleon III style. The unusual silhouette of these chairs would bring a different structure and interest in today’s home. They are still perfect for their original purpose of filling a large foyer or hallway
