19th century English Chippendale style secretary with bookcase.

This late 19th century antique English mahogany secretary with bookcase is an absolute classic.  The pierced and hand carved broken arch of the cornice, beautifully patterned mullioned glass panes, and simple bracket feet come together to form an elegant example of the Chippendale style.  The upper portion of this piece is a bookcase with four adjustable shelves, allowing for a perfect place to display books or a coveted collection of nick-knacks.  The lower section consists of four spacious drawers and a drop front secretary.  When one “drops” the front panel a charming writing space and interior are revealed.   The actual writing surface is of embossed leather. The interior touts six drawers with brass pulls and several compartments.  Due to the multiple functions this piece is capable of fulfilling and the elegant Chippendale styling, this secretary could effortlessly fit into the decor of a den, dining room, bedroom or entry way.
