Antique Ansonia “Capitol” wall clock
Among antique clock collectors, Ansonia clocks have a reputation of excellence. It is timepieces such as this wall clock (known as the Capitol model) that have secured that reputation. The case of the clock is solidly constructed from walnut and features five finely turned finial and a classically styled face on the cornice. Within the case near the bottom is a signed brass beat indicator. The wonderful brass movement of this clock is powered by two springs requiring winding every two weeks to maintain continuous running. The elegant spade hands are over a paper dial which also has a sub-dial indicating seconds.
