19th Century Display Antique Vitrine in Bronze with Mahogany

Circa 1890, this French antique vitrine has an unique square shape perfect for highlighting a unusual collection. Three sides are filled with glass and the back door is mounted with a mirror, allowing the contents to truly shine. The bronze ormolu decoration creates a corner column, beginning at the bottom with the paw foot and ending at the top with a female bust sculpture. Although the narrow feet have a delicate appearance, the hefty bronze ensures stability for the piece. The vitrine is trimmed with egg and dart pierced bronze on the bottom fretwork and the top gallery. This trim is then accented with beaded molding. A back door provides access to the interior shelving and features a lock and key. The design of this antique vitrine allows for accessory display both inside and out, and fits in those smaller spaces in the home that can be difficult to fill.
